By the creator of Alchemy, The Crest provides a fine dining experience with an abundance of vegan options. After snagging the former executive chef of Comune, the Crest's menu was revamped to include savory + complex items such as Mushroom Poutine, The Mac, and Woodfired Cauliflower. Each vegan item is clearly marked with a "V." The Crest has two locations: Clintonville and German Village. The locations have differing different menus. They have mid-sized parking lots and limited street parking. Aladdin's is a Mediterranean Eatery with a ton of vegan options marked with "vgn." With rolled pita sandwiches, vegan soups, mujadara, + more, you're sure to find something delicious. Aladdin's has four locations around Columbus: Clintonville, Grandview, Powell, and Worhtington. You can conveniently order online for pickup through their website. Dakshin is an Indian Bistro that prides itself on serving great vegan options. With a dedicate vegan menu, they make it almost too easy. They also have a lunch special where they serve a super filling, Vegan Thali (platter) for only $9.99. Please Note: I used to love Dakshin, so much so that I would pay them a weekly visit. However, during my last visit, I learned that they had been serving me a non-vegan dessert on their "Vegan Thali." The fact that they knew that the dessert was not vegan during this visit makes me hope that they have learned the definition of "vegan" and will make sure their advertised vegan items that are actually vegan. I have not returned since the incident so I cannot verify if this is true, so please proceed with caution. Dakshin is located on Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. They have a medium-sized, shared parking lot. They have a good amount of booth + table seating as well as patio seating when the weather is nice. Mezze is a greek BYO restaurant that marks its vegan options and has a dedicated vegan menu on its website. Decide between a gyro or hummus plate and top it with hummus, falafel, and veggies of your choosing. Mezze is located on Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. It has a large, shared parking lot and a mid-sized seating area. Conveniently, you can order online for pickup through their website. Hours Sun - Thr: 11 am - 9 pm Fri - Sat: 11 am - 10 pm As you can tell by the name, Chi Thai is a Chinese/Thai restaurant with a number of vegan options. Vegan items are not marked on the menu, but as with most Asian restaurants they're not too difficult to find! As far as I know, all items under the "Vegetables" category are vegan, but make sure to double check with your server that they do not contain any sneaky ingredients like fish sauce. I recommend the Shanghai Greens, Mala String Beans, and steamed vegetable dumplings! Chi Thai is located on Hamilton Rd. in Gahanna. It has a large parking lot and plenty of seating. Authentic Mediterranean cuisine! With a menu that clearly labels vegan items with (V) you can be sure to spot vegan favorites including the stuffed grape leaves, hummus, falafel and more! Lavash is located in Clintonville. There is a parking lot as well as free street parking. Palle serves up Italian meatball centered dishes. They have a great veggie meatball that can be covered with marinara, BBQ sauce, or buffalo. The Kitchen Sink Salad can be modified for vegans by asking for chickpea pasta and extra sauce in place of their honey-lemon vinaigrette. They even serve vegan focaccia bread. Go on a Monday to catch their $10 Kitchen Sink Salad deal. Palle is located on 5th Ave. There is a parking garage on the opposite end of the strip. Bring your ticket into the restaurant to have it validated by the server. There is plenty of seating inside and they also have outdoor patio seating when the weather is nice. The Lox is serving up the most delicious bagels in Columbus, and the best part is that all of their bagels are vegan. They have four types of bagels, everything, plain, sesame, and sea salt n' herb, and while all are phenomenal, sea salt n' herb takes the cake without question. Omnivores visit the Lox for breakfast sandwiches, but unfortunately they do not have any vegan sandwiches on the menu yet. However, you can ask to top your bagel with avocado or jam, or just buy a dozen bagels for $22 and make your own sandwiches at home! The Lox is located on Warren Ave. in the Short North. It has a very small, shared parking lot that is usually full during their busy morning hours. Paid street parking is available in the surrounding area but can be difficult to find. There is room for about 50 patrons to sit inside, as well as several tables outside. Hours Sun: 8 am - 2 pm Mon - Fri: 7:30 am - 2:00 pm Sat: 8 am - 2 pm Taste of Orient is a hole-in-the-wall pan-Asian restaurant located in Old North Columbus, a few blocks from campus. Taste of Orient is one of my favorite spots for Asian food in town because of one dish: Thai Peanut Curry. The flavor of this dish is insane, the portion size is gigantic, and it only costs $9.45. While I've yet to be impressed by another dish here, there are several other options on the vegetarian menu that are vegan; just check with them before you order to make sure that it does not contain fish sauce. Taste of Orient is located in a strip mall with a medium, shared parking lot. There is a lot of seating inside and it is rarely ever busy. Hours Sun: 12 pm - 10 pm Mon - Thr: 11 am - 10 pm Fri - Sat: 11 am - 10:30 pm |
