Instagram personalities flock to this ice cream shop to take pictures with their brightly colored ice creams and modern decor. CRMD has four vegan sorbet flavors: Pom Blue (my fave), Mango, Lemon, and Raspberry. Each scoop is huge and they tower them precariously high. Open late, CRMD is a great dessert option if you're partying in the Short North after an OSU Buckeyes win. CRMD is located in the Short North. Paid Street parking is available but can be difficult to find. There are a few cushions in front of the window for seating, but most of the space is for standing room. Hours Mon - Sat: 12 pm - 2 am Sun: 12 pm - 10 pm

In 2019, Columbus, gourmet ice cream legend, Jeni, added five vegan flavors to the menu. Texas Sheet Cake, Cold Brew with Coconut Cream, and Roasted PB & Strawberry Jam joined Dark Chocolate Truffle and Frose to create a delicious vegan lineup. Get it by the half-scoop, or just buy a pint for $10 and share with a couple friends. You can buy pints online, at scoop shops, and at Giant Eagle.
Jeni's has 10 locations around Columbus: Bexley, Clintonville, Downtown, Dublin, Easton, German Village, Grandview, Powell, North Market, and Short North. Dirty Franks makes it too easy to eat vegan, drunk food with a whopping 17 specialty hot dogs that can be made vegan. Dirty Franks vegan hotdogs are made locally in Columbus, OH and they have vegan cheeze sauce, chili, bac'n bits, and cream cheese as well as veggie toppings. And don't miss out on a plate of cheezy tater tots or pretzel bites. All items that can be made vegan are marked with a red heart on the menu, make sure you request that your hot dog be made vegan. Dirty Franks is located downtown on 4th St. Paid street parking is available. Hours Everyday: 11 am - 1:45 am If you live in Columbus and you haven't tried Ethiopian food yet, what are you doing?? Savory, bean stews and salads atop spongy, injera flatbread characterize this cuisine, tasting simultaneously unique and comforting. The menu does not label vegan items, but all vegetarian items are also vegan. The Beyaynetu platter gives you a taste of all of the vegan options for only $7.99, but be warned; injera expands in your stomach over time, so make sure to eat slowly so that you don't over-eat. Lalibela is located in Whitehall and has a mid-sized parking lot. Don't be fooled by the dingy exterior, the food is delicious and the staff is lovely. Please note that Ethiopian food is intended to be eaten with your hands, Lalibela does not have silverware. Hours Sun - Thr: 10 am - 11 pm Fri - Sat: 10 am - 12 am Mellow Mushroom uses an accidentally vegan pizza dough, which means making a vegan pizza is super easy. Build your own pizza + top with Follow Your Heart cheese, or choose one of their specialty pies like the Vegout, Kosmic Karma, or Great White and omit non-vegan toppings. Make sure you specify that your order is vegan, because they will otherwise brush the crust of your pizza with garlic butter + parmesan. The tempeh/tofu + Avocado Hoagies can be made vegan by omitting mayo and cheese, several salads can be made vegan by omitting cheese and pretzel bites can be made vegan by requesting that they not be brushed with butter + parm. Mellow Mushroom has three locations in Columbus: Dublin, New Albany, and Polaris. All have parking lots and plenty of seating. Harvest Pizzeria lets you build your own specialty, gourmet pizza. Choose between olive oil, tomato sauce, or vegan pesto and top with housemade vegan cheese, vegan sausage, and whatever locally-sourced veggies you like. Harvest's vegan pizzas are also available for purchase in the frozen pizza section of Whole Foods. Harvest's pizzas are a bit too thin + oily for my liking, and the price of a small pizza can add up very quickly when each topping costs $1 - $3 a pop. That being said, it's definitely worth a try if you haven't been! Harvest has three locations around Columbus: Bexley, Clintonville, and Dublin. Sow Plated is an organic, fine dining restaurant with a ton of vegan options. They use local + organic ingredients and the staff is very knowledgable about veganism. Around half the menu is either vegan or able to be made vegan and the vegan items are clearly marked. The several times I've eaten here, I've felt the entrees lacked the depth of flavor I expected for the price. My recommendations are that you skip the vegan burger and opt for a chopped salad + pesto pasta. Make sure you save room for dessert because their Yuzu Pie is just spectacular. Sow Plated is located in a strip mall in Upper Arlington. There is a large, shared parking lot and they have lots of seating inside, as well as a beautiful covered patio. Hours Sun - Thr: 11 am - 9 pm Fri - Sat: 11 am - 10 pm Build-your-own bowl or sushi roll or pick from one of the signature, vegan options available at Fusian! Choose between soy/seaweed sushi or a bowl with a base of either sushi rice or kale, and then fill it with marinated tofu, veggies (including avocado), wasabi, pickled ginger, and sauces of your choosing. Their vegan toppings and sides are clearly labelled. Fusian has three locations around Columbus: Clintonville, Grandview, and Easton. All locations have onsite parking and seating available both inside + out. Paulie Gee's is a gourmet pizza shop + bar with four vegan pizzas: Red, White, n' Greenpeace, Simple Red, Vegan Supreme, and In Ricotta Da Vegan. Paulie Gee's makes its vegan sausage and its cashew-based ricotta in house. The best night to hit up Paulie Gee's is Tuesday, when they have a 3 pizzas for $30 deal. Paulie Gee's is located in the Short North where paid street parking is available along N. High St. Melt is a non-vegan restaurant that goes above and beyond to provide stellar vegan options. With a dedicated vegan menu, you can choose between decadent chik'n parm sandwiches, wake n' bake breakfast sandwiches, vegan mac, french onion soup, and more. Melt has gooey, vegan cheese and several varieties of faux meats that can satisfy the most primal of cravings. They are seriously the embodiment of "anything you can make, we can make vegan," so junk food vegans and WFPB vegans alike can find something to eat there. Melt has two locations in Columbus: The Short North and Easton. The Easton location has a large, shared parking lot while the Short North location is paid street parking only. Plenty of seating is available. |
